Onboarding improvements
- Improve login/registration screen - AUTH-1 ✅ 2025-09-25
- Improve profile completion (from guest account) format - AUTH-2 ✅ 2025-09-27
For now, this can consist of moving ProfileSetupRequired component to just below the Activity Header

Project tutorial improvements

How good does this look (comparatively)?
Deployment improvements
-
Update telescope viewport classification link (for DMP/AA) - TELESCOPE-1 ✅ 2025-09-27 ^ Oh, this was already implemented:

-
Fast-deploy mechanic for new users - DEPLOY-1 ✅ 2025-09-26
-
Remove time limit for
linked_anomaliesformation for new users - DEPLOY-2 ✅ 2025-09-26
Fast-Deploy
The basics -
- If a user has never deployed a tool before (determined by the classifications they’ve made), we will have a quick deploy mechanic, which reduces all time taken for anomalies to become available to either 0 seconds, or 1 minute (between each waypoint, for the AI4M Rover project)
- The sector or waypoint is automatically selected
- The user is given more information text on the viewport window
To make things even easier for new users, we’ll update the main homepage with a simple button to activate (fast deploy) all of their tools, and then we’ll give them a one-question quiz-type experience which will send them to the viewport that is most relevant to what they want to do; the linked_anomalies entries will have already been created and this allows the user to jump right into the action.
This does lead into a post-sprint question/discussion topic: what will we have users do after this classification/onboarding experience?
We’ll also give users an option to have the fast deploy (i.e. automatic selection) enabled for the future; but the time delay for anomalies to become available will persist.
The telescope structure currently doesn’t have any time blockers/limits, so we can skip this for now.
For the satellite, I’m setting things as “one day prior” as a simple fix/work-around.
Same with the rover. Additionally, we’ll need to adjust the timer between waypoints to be 60 seconds rather than 60 minutes? (or whatever the current value is). (I’ll set this to be if userClassifications < 4, because the user is doing multiple classifications for a single deployment of the rover…)
Post-deploy
“Try a full deployment” - suggestion from ChatGPT for this sprint. Idea -
- Once a user has made some classifications, we give them a review card for their first week? Should depend on their account age + requirement for minimum 1 classification performed. Inform user that the deployments are reset at the end of each week and show them the other projects, or lead back to the project they’ve already done (if they want to focus on that)…
Getting started guide
I think, instead, I’ll add a little “Your Progress” card that can show the user the basics and their progress towards “getting started”. For example, we’ll show users the structures/tools they’ve interacted with, and their skills. Plus buttons to “improve their skills” (i.e. make more classifications).

Other ideas
Users should maybe be given some achievements or other award in this sprint? Emphasis on sharing posts?
UI Issues
- Telescope viewport - all anomalies are just being rendered as “anomaly” object - VIEWPORT-1 ✅ 2025-09-27 This links into - AnomalyComponent
- The circles should be more rocky and lumpy
- They should be labelled “planet/asteroid candidate” (maybe the label should be a bit shorter)…
- GameNavbar component is behind the classification modals on
[id].../page.tsxroutes - LAYOUT-1 ✅ 2025-09-27 - Satellite deploy page always is in “dark mode” - LAYOUT-2 ✅ 2025-09-27
Deployment improvements
Building on from ^022d91, I propose another new task:
- Telescope deployment should create at least one of each available type - DEPLOY-3 ✅ 2025-09-27
- More info on satellite deployment mission types - DEPLOY-4 ✅ 2025-09-27

Classification/mission improvements
- One-click classification (save image annotation & post) - CLASSIFICATION-1 ✅ 2025-09-27
Yep, this works:

User acquisition
Notes
Possibly, I’ll aim to introduce the sunspot project? Plus decide two more Zooniverse projects to begin integration with shortly.
- Can users do meteorological studies without having discovered planets? Questions Testing ✅ 2025-09-27
We can probably also add the Bee minigame as a classification option/mission at some point, to the main game of course.
Dedicated UI component to show progress/research unlock of CoM: Shapes, plus more research dialogue to come next week.
